Understanding BiDi Optics
Learn how bidirectional links carry transmit and receive wavelengths on one fiber.
Overview
BiDi optics use complementary wavelength pairs so each end transmits and receives on the same strand. The two modules are directional counterparts.
Key planning checks
- Match the upstream and downstream wavelength pair.
- Preserve U and D or equivalent direction tokens.
- Confirm reach and single-fiber connector path.
- Document which endpoint receives each directional module.
NRCube review note
Keep the unknowns visible
Two identical directional BiDi modules normally do not form a link; complementary endpoints are required.
